The Israelites spent 40 years in the wilderness and all God wanted was for them to reach a place of obedience in their hearts. As we walk in His will, all that we need will be provided for us. And when we do so, He will reward us accordingly. God loves to see His children walking in obedience. We may not necessarily like it, but without God’s chastening in our lives, there won’t be any blessings either. Why? Because our heart is in the wrong place. We don’t like to hear that God will correct us, or that He may not allow us to move forward or to reach our goals in our life at times. Psalm 30:5 (NKJV) 5 For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning. God is faithful to take care of that spot! What this world offers will never fill that void. Only God knows what we need when we lose someone or something dear to us. When I asked God to help me, He came and filled it with what was missing. I cried out to God because no matter what I did, I couldn’t make that spot fill up. I couldn’t even enjoy some of the great blessings God was bringing me. However, I found with me that everything I was doing was not helping me. It’s not terrible to want to fill that empty void that was left by their absence. We will fill it with anything that will bring comfort there once again. Or we may try to fill it by overeating or drinking. For others, it may be starting a project. For others it’s spending money, or dating. That spot remains empty until we fill it with something comparable.įor some it’s our work. When someone we love leaves us, there is an empty spot. But looking back, I remembered my mom talking about the expression I had on my face, and how I yelled when he took his last breath, “my Papa’s gone!”.Īt that moment, I felt something leave me and I didn’t quite understand it for a long time. I was recently reflecting about when my dad passed away. Psalm 147:3 (NKJV) 3 He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.
