![]() ![]() ![]() Setting it to Text will give you a larger set of images, with headlines embedded in them. There, you’ll only to be able to see a cascade of images with the Visualization setting set to Images. That option isn’t available if you set the News Bar to scroll on either the left or right of the screen. ![]() There’s a bit of a trick, though, that isn’t immediately obvious: If you align the News Bar at the top or bottom, you’ll see a text ticker scrolling left to right. Mark Hachman / IDGĪlternatively, you can configure News Bar in this ticker mode. An Options menu also allows you to restore the News Bar automatically after you minimize it. (Note that turning on Focus Assist using the Windows 10 Notifications menu does not automatically minimize the News Bar.) Clicking the Settings gear allows for a very basic set of options: aligning it to the top, bottom, left, or right side of the screen selecting which language your news appears in and selecting stocks of companies to follow. Next to the ticker is a small Settings gear, as well as a control to minimize the News Bar entirely, making it disappear. Clicking the link opens the article in your browser as a link from the news source, provided by Microsoft’s MSN.com. After you install it, a text-based ticker launches at the bottom of your screen, just above the Windows taskbar. Every minute or so a new headline or image will slide in and push the others out. News Bar is… a news bar: a text- or image-based ticker that lives on an edge of your screen. Microsoft News bar looks most attractive while in this visual mode. ![]()
